Noon Of Heart Attack
In Mason City Store

Mrs. Anna Schake, 59, died very suddenly as the result of a heart attack at 12:45 p.m. Thursday May 10, in the basement of the Kresge store in Mason City, where she had been employed as a cook for some time.

Funeral services in charge of F.R. Sheckler & Sons were held in St. Luke's American Lutheran church at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. The pastor, the Rev. W. G. Pfeffer, conducted the rites. Pall bearers were Milo Raymond, John Christiansen, Elsworth McNamara, Jim Shoger, Darrell Sandford and LeRoy Severe. Honorary pall bearers were M.L. Sutton and Floyd Potter.

Mrs Roy Kraupa and Mrs Henry Buckmann sang, "Abide With Me" and " In The Hour of Trial". They were accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Carl Crowell. Floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. Seymour Lander and Mrs. John Christiansen, and interment was in Park cemetery.

Mrs Schake, nee Anna Lass, was born at Paton, Iowa, on August 20, 1885, the daughter of Mr.and Mr. Claus Lass. She became a member of the Lutheran church at Ogden as a girl.

After living at Paton for 22 years, she was united in marriage with Claus Hagge. Their union was blessed with one child. Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Holmes of Ventura. The couple resided at Paton until 1911, when her husband perceded her in death. His widow lived at Paton for a number of years after his death and then went to Miller, to keep house for her brother.

On December 5, 1915, she married Wiliam Schake. They moved to Clear Lake and lived there for about nine months and then came to Nora Springs, where they spent the balance of their lives. On February 27, 1940, Mr. Schake was stricken with a heart attack and died very suddenly.

Surviving Mrs. Schake are her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Holmes of Ventura; four brothers, Henry Lass of Pilot Mound, John Lass of Klemme, William Lass of Grand Junction, and Harry Lass of Olympia, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Sundquist of Boone and Mrs. Hanna Robinson of Dana; two step-children, Mrs. Florence Richards of Orchard and Mrs. Cleora Benedict of Idaho; a niece, Mrs. Milford Severson of Nora Springs, who, since early childhood had made her home with her aunt; three grandchldren and a host of friends.
