Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church in Nora Springs at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon for Mrs. Charlotte L. Steidl, 80, who died at her home at 7:45 a.m. Friday, January 12, (1945) after an illness of 14 weeks.

The pastor, the Rev. W. G. Pfeffer, officiated at the rites and burial was in Park cemetery. Pall bearers included John Christiansen, Fred Uker, George Mogk, Fred Frese, Henry Buckmann and John Hartwig. Mrs. H. J. Buckmann and Mrs. Roy Kraupa sang two hymns, "Abide With Me", and "Jesus Still Leads On". They were accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Carl Crowell. Mrs Louise Jerrell and Miss Mary Mogk comprised the flower committee.

Mrs Steidl (nee) Charlotte Louise Schultz, was born September 14, 1864, at Gonauf, Germany, near Hamburg, the daughter of Charles and Dorothea Schultz. At an early age she was broght to the Lord in Baptism.

When still a child she came to America with her parents, who located north of Nora Springs, on what is now the Lyle Pedelty farm. Mrs. Steidl was a true pioneer of this community, having lived here for more than seventy years. She and her parents came to their first farm home in a covered wagon across trackless prairie. She lived on that farm until her marriage in 1877, to Vincent Steidl, and they moved to another farm only a short distance away, and a few years later they moved to the present Henry Steidl farm. In 1908 they retired and moved to Nora Springs, where Mr. Steidl died in 1913. One sister, Mrs. Mary Bublitz, also preceded her in death.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Steidl-one son, Henry living north of Nora Springs;
and two daughters, (Lillian) Mrs. Arthur Duvall, and (Clara) Mrs. H. G. Hartwig, both of whom preceded their mother in death.

Surviving are her son, Henry Steidl of Nora Springs; one brother, Charles Schultz of Nashua;
five grandchildren, Vern Steidl, Delmar Duvall, Mrs. Lester Diegel, Virgene Hartwig and DeVere Hartwig; and one great grandson, Loren Steidl.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the rites Monday included Rudolph Schultz of Minneapolis; Charles Schultz and Mrs George Mason of Nashua; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Schultz, Mrs. Norma Zastrow and Arthur Duval of Mason City; Mr.and Mrs. Paul Rader of Clear Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Andersen of Rudd; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ernst and family of Charles City; Mrs. Henry Willert, Sr. and family, and Mrs. Martha Adolph of Rockford.
