CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Paul "Albert" Nauman, 94, of Charles City died Wednesday evening, Dec. 29, 2010, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.
Funeral services for Paul "Albert" Nauman will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at the Rudd Wesleyan Church in Rudd. Pastor Gordon Berryman and Pastor Marty Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, rural Rudd.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, and after 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the church.
Paul Albert Nauman was born on September 16, 1916, at his family's home in Floyd County, the son of Friedrick Paul and Lillie May (Gerholdt) Nauman, the fifth of five children. He attended country school in Rudd Township and although he had only eight years of formal education he was a very intelligent and articulate. Albert was very self-educated,through the local library and farm education.
On February 12, 1942, he was united in marriage to Laura Margaret "Margie" Buckner at her home in rural Floyd. They lived in a very small two-room home that he built himself on his parents' farm, where they lived for eight years. In 1949 they purchased a farm where they moved in 1950. Margie died in 1979.
Albert farmed in Rudd Township until he retired in 1988 and moved to Charles City.
He was a member of the Wesleyan Church in Rudd and Floyd County Extension Council where he served as vice-chairman. Albert also was a board member for the Rudd Co-op and Floyd County Farm Bureau.
He was a very good farmer and very proud of his International Harvester equipment, especially his 12-row planter.
Albert enjoyed reminiscing about family, his growing up and farming years.
Living family members include his companion/caregiver of nearly nine years, Celene Eliason; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Zierath, Joyce (Rolland) Cook and Carol (John) Miller; brother-in-law, Chet (Mary) Buckner; special nieces, Marlise Nauman Adams, Dorothy Nauman, Joyce Nauman Bishop, Pam Robbins and other nieces and nephews and their families; and a grand-niece, Vickie Nauman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margie; all of his siblings, Emmet, Phillip, Bertha and Esther; nephews, Riely Campbell Jr., Victor Nauman, Donald Nauman, Lavern Nauman, David Nauman and Robert Nauman; and a grandniece, Debra Nauman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rudd Wesleyan Church, Box 97, Rudd, IA 50471.
