Resident Is Brought
Back Here For Burial

Mrs. Fred Schmolke, 55, died at her home at Blythe, California, at 12:05 a.m., Saturday, November 27, following a lingering illness. Mrs. Schmolke had been under treatment for diabetes since 1941.

She had spent her entire life in Nora Springs until the family moved to Collidge, Arizona, in 1950, seeking to benefit Mrs. Schmolke's health. They had moved to Blythe in March, 1953.

The body was brought back here for burial, with services being held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, December 1, in the Sheckler funeral home. Interment was in Rock Grove cemetery. The rites were conducted by the Rev. Amedee Fredette, pastor of St. Luke's Lutheran church.

The casket was borne by Nels Jacobsen, Bernard Clifford, William Witt, Albert Wagner, Percy Hartwell and Burr Fisher.

Mrs. Schmolke, nee Doris Selma Grandy, was born in Nora Springs on April 4, 1899, one of six children of Wallace and Mertie Adams Grandy.

Three brothers and one sister have preceded her in death.

She was married to Fred Schmolke of Nora Springs, at Charles City on June 26, 1917, and they made their home in Nora Springs until 1950.

She is survived by her husband; eight children, Gordon Schmolke of Clear Lake, M-Sgt. Charles Kennedy of Santa Ana, Calif., Arnold Schmolke of Mason City, Norman Schmolke and Burton Schmolke of Nora Springs, Mrs. Seymor (Dawn) Lander and Mrs. Glen (Kay) Hill, both of Blythe, Calif., and Mrs. Norman (Grace Ann) Lockhart of Coos Bay, Ore. There are also 13 grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ethel Dennis of Des Moines.
