GRAVESIDE RITES
AT ROCKFORD FOR
MRS. LILLIAN ELLIOTT

Mrs. Lillian Elliott, about 71, former long-time resident of Nora Springs, died suddenly in her hotel room at Rockford, Illinois, December 24. A maid found the body Thursday morning. The bed had not been slept in, and Mrs. Elliott's coat was nearby, as though she had been preparing to go out.

Funeral services, in charge of the Order of the Eastern Star, were held in Rockford, Illinois, Monday and the body was brought to Iowa for burial in Riverside cemetery at Rockford, Iowa, beside her husband, the late Will G. Elliott. Graveside services were held there at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29**, and a group of old friends from Nora Springs attended.

The Elliotts were prominent residents of this community, having built what is now the home of Mrs. T. G. Treloar, later lived in the present Derald Hoel home, and then moving to the present Pete Peterson farm, west of town. They were living there when Mr. Elliott died. She later moved to Mason City; and about 15 years ago, to Rockford Ill.

She was married to Mr. Elliott on Jan. 23, 1903. He died Dec. 23, 1927.

She had returned each year for a visit; having been a guest in the Clarence Stoner home here about a year ago.

Mrs. Elliott was prominent in the Eastern Star, White Shrine, Rebekah and other lodges and organizations.

**NOTE: The year of death (1953) is based on the fact that Dec. 29th falls on a Tuesday that year.
That would put the birth year and about 71 years before that, or about 1882.
