Funeral services were held at the Sheckler funeral home Monday afternoon for Mrs. William (Ida) Tibbets, 82, who died at her home at the southeast edge of Nora Springs at 4:10 p.m. Friday, May 14. She had been ill about ten days.

Mrs. Tibbits, nee Ida Melissa Skelton, was born in Danville, Illinois, on April 18, 1872, to Mark and Lucy Skelton. She came to Iowa in March of 1891, and on July 1 of that same year was married Malcolm Tibbits. To this union were born two children: George, now of Gaylord, Minn., and Lucy, deceased. Mr. Tibbets died May 11, 1894.

On July 3, 1895, she was married to William E. Tibbits. They had nine children, seven of whom survive. They are Garrett (Ada) Brierly and Mrs. Darrell (Gertrude) Sanford, both of Nora Springs, William of Clear Lake, Harold of Waterloo, Mrs. Ernest (Emma) Bass of Rudd, Mrs. George (Opal) Squier of Osakis, Minn., and Mrs. Paul (Fleta) Bistline of Osage. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of a family of 13 children.

Her husband, two children, Joseph and Leonard, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild preceded her in death.
