CHESTER, IOWA - Sandra Kay Dohlman, 63, of Chester, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.
The Funeral Mass for Sandy Dohlman will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday December 17, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in LeRoy, Minn., with Father Steve Peterson officiating. Burial will take place in the Chester Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in LeRoy from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Sandy was born September 11, 1947, in Charles City to Gilbert and Dorothy (Hemann) Holzer. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic School in Charles City, graduating in 1965. She went on to cosmetology school in Mason City and was united in marriage to Wendell Dohlman on July 27, 1968, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. Together they farmed in the Chester and LeRoy, Minn., area for almost 40 years. Wendell died September 7, 2005.
Sandy served on the LeRoy Ambulance Board, the Pastoral Council for St. Patrick's Catholic Church in LeRoy and served as an election judge for Howard County. She enjoyed reading, baking, spending time with her family and always being on the go.
She is survived by her four children, Barb (Bob) Foster of Riceville, Wendy (Neil) Vikre of LeRoy, Minn., Jim (Michelle) Dohlman of Osage and Dan (Michaela) Dohlman of Clear Lake; eight grandchildren, Brooke, Brady, Terrye, Grant, Taylor, Trystan, Madalyn and Drayce; four brothers, Butch (Kathy) Holzer of Denton, Texas, Kenny Holzer, Ray (Karen) Holzer and Ron Holzer, all of Charles City; and two sisters, Jean (Dick) Bensend of Osage and Judy (Rod) Barker of Waverly. She is also survived by her step-mother, Harriet Holzer of Charles City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
