Frank Behne, 54
Former Resident
Dies Suddenly

Local relatives and friends were shocked and grieved Tuesday afternoon to learn that Frank Behne, 54, had dropped dead of a heart attack that afternoon at his work at the lumber yard at Fenton, Iowa. He had suffered several previous attacks and had been warned by his physician to "take things easy."

A former resident of Nora Springs, he had been employed at the Thompson Lumber Co., here for several years, leaving here about 15 years ago to accept a position at Henderson Minnesota; and later going to Fenton. He was a former member of the board of education of the Nora Springs school.

He was born on January 27, 1901, at Alta, Iowa, a son of Fred K. and Hattie Van Buskirk Behne, both of whom have preceded him in death.

Survivors include his widow, the former Florence Palmer of the Prairie Center community south of Nora Springs; a daughter, Janet Behne, both of Fenton; a son, Layton Behne of Wichita, Kansas; two grandchildren; four brothers: Carl of Nora Springs, Paul of Council Bluffs, Lee of Rockford, and Glen of Nora Springs; and six sisters: Mrs. Art (Ruby) Peters, Mrs. Vern (Enid) Steidl, and Mrs. Elgar (Opal) Smith, all of Nora Springs, Mrs. Leigh (Alpha) Heinselman and Mrs. Lloyd (Doris) Einwalter, both of Waterloo, and Mrs. Verle (Mary) Demo of Wayzata, Minn.
