SEIBERT, Mary Lou (Meinders) 1938-2010

ROCKFORD, IOWA - Mary Lou Seibert, 72, of Rockford, formerly of Rudd, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

A memorial service for Mary Lou will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church, 21 Third St. N.W., Rockford, with Pastor Judy Wooton and Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service at the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd. Visitation will be held at the church from 5 until 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Dec. 14, and one hour prior to service time on Wednesday, Dec. 15.

The family of Mary Lou Seibert has requested that those wishing to give a memorial in her name may consider Hospice of North Iowa or the First United Methodist Church in Rockford.

Mary Lou (Meinders) Seibert was born on January 17, 1938, on a farm north of Dumont, the daughter of Harry and Mattie (Nolte) Meinders. Mary Lou grew up on the farm and graduated from Dumont High School in 1956. While in high school, Mary Lou received an outstanding music award and participated in all state chorus.

After graduating from high school Mary Lou graduated from airline school in Kansas City, Kan. Mary Lou was united in marriage to Duane Seibert on September 29, 1956, at the Dumont Reformed Church, and to this union three children were born: Sherry Lou, Tim Charles, and Todd Dean.

After their marriage, Mary Lou was a bookkeeper at Wood and Sons and Helwood Trailers, and also owned and operated Cool Corner Restaurant in Rudd. Duane and Mary Lou also owned and operated the Nora Springs Locker for 26 years.

Mary Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rockford and is a former member of the United Methodist Churches in Rudd and Nora Springs where she received special member pins in the United Methodist Women's groups. Mary Lou was the church secretary, and the family did custodial work at the Rudd United Methodist Church. Mary Lou also enjoyed giving piano lessons for many years.

Mary Lou's family meant so much to her and they always came first. Mary Lou also enjoyed attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting and music events.

Those that are left to cherish her memory are her husband Duane Seibert of Rockford; three children, Sherry (Bob) Fischer of Rockford, Tim (Cindy) Seibert of Burlington, and Todd (Louise) Seibert of Rockford; nine grandchildren, Kate Fischer of West Des Moines, Tony Fischer of Cedar Falls, Emily Seibert of Kansas City, Kansas, Anna Seibert of Cedar Falls, Chris Fischer of Cedar Falls, Jake Seibert of Decorah, Julie Seibert of Cedar Falls, Mike Seibert of Rockford and Amy Seibert of Burlington; two sisters, Edna Reiners of Dumont, and Phyllis Card of Hampton; sisters-in-law, Frances (Les) Severs of Dumont, and Barbara (Bob) Card of Dumont.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mattie Meinders; brother, Harold Meinders, sisters, Deona Dohlman and Wilma Maifield, and in-laws, Edwin and June Seibert.
