Judy M. Schmidtke, 66, of Charles City, died Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Judy Schmidtke will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Neizwaag and Pastor David Werges will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Judy Marie Fenneman was born April 14, 1944, in Clarksville, the daughter of George and Freida (Edeker) Fenneman. She graduated from the Clarksville High School. On November 20, 1964, she was united in marriage to Raymond Schmidtke in Clarksville. In 2006, after 35 years as an administrative assistant, Judy retired from the Floyd County Medical Center. She was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church and Messiah Lutheran Church. Her interests included playing the piano, decorating, decorating cakes, antique collecting, gardening, crafts, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Living family members include her husband, Ray Schmidtke of Charles City; two sons, Brian (Rhonda) Schmidtke of Charles City and Tony (Kristi) Schmidtke of Burlington; five grandchildren, Brandon, Bryce, Evan, Keaton and Simon Schmidtke; mother, Freida Fenneman of Clarksville; two sisters, Shirley Hostetler of Shell Rock and Donna Mae (Bob) Fuls of Waverly; brother, Donald (Ruth) Fenneman of Clarksville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Fenneman; sister at birth, Mary Fenneman; daughter-in-law, Tammy LaBarge Schmidtke; and brother-in-law, Dale Hostetler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
