William Henry (Bill) Marshall, 77, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, [1954] in a hospital at Rochester, Minnesota, where he had been a patient only four hours. He had been taken to the Mitchell County Memorial hospital at Osage on October 5 following three weeks illness at home. Sunday noon he was taken to Rochester in the Sheckler ambulance.

Last rites for Mr. Marshall were held Wednesday afternoon, October 13, at the Methodist church in Nora Springs. The pastor, the Rev. J. Ellis Webb, conducted the services and was assisted by the Rev. Amede Fredett, pastor of St.Luke's Lutheran church.

Interment was in Park cemetery. Pall bearers were Howard Marshall, Bill Marshall, Wayne Ueker, Percy Schultz, Irvin Ketdle and Art Haugen. Mrs. C.E. Cumming was the vocalist at the rites, accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Shanks. Mrs. Clarence Stoner and Mrs. Roy Kraupa were members of the flower committee.

Mr. Marshall, a son of James Marshall and Josephine (Forbes) Marshall, was born on a farm north of Nora Springs, November 10, 1876. He was one of eight children, five of whom survive.

He attended the Nora Springs seminary, and served as township trustee of Rock Grove township for 16 years. He had always given the Methodist church his generous support, although he was not actually a member.

He was united in marriage November 24, 1897 to Minnie Dorothy Schultz. They farmed for 26 years, retiring 31 years ago and moving to Nora Springs.

He had operated a custom corn shelling business for the past 15 years; and maintained an active interest in his children's and grandchildren's farming operations, making almost daily visits at their country homes.

The Marshalls had three children. An infant son, Roy, preceded his father in death. He is survived by his widow; one son, George (Bud) Marshall; one daughter, Mrs. Russell (Pearl) Lunde; two grandsons; Howard and Billy Marshall; one granddaughter, Mrs. Wayne (Dawn) Ueker; and three great grand-children, Michael and Debra Marshall and Bruce Ueker.

He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Charles (Nell) Schultz of Seaford, L.I., N.Y., Mrs. Charles (Ethel) Siemers of Brainard Minn.; Mrs Wedworth (Josephine)Dowd of Nora Springs, and Mrs. Claude (Ruth) Demo of Medford, Ore. One brother, Jim Marshall left here more than 20 years ago for Alaska and has not been heard from since. Relatives do not know whether he is dead or alive. One brother, George Marshall, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Belle Turner, preceded him in death.
