Succumbs at Age of 83

Mrs. Benjamin (Ann) Seaman, 83, died in her sleep early Thursday morning, January 14, at her home in Nora Springs. She had been bedfast since she suffered a paralytic stroke seven and a half years ago; and had during that period received the devoted care of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. R. M. Seaman.

Last rites were held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 16, in the Methodist church, with the pastor, Rev. J. Ellis Webb, in charge. Interment was in Park cemetery.

The casket was borne by Howard Treloar, Ralph Treloar, Tilden Lorentzen, Lloyd Lorentzen, Richard Wilcox and Ernest Ryner. Mrs. Clarence Stoner and Mrs. Merle Roberts arranged the floral tributes. Two hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross: and "Jesus", Lover of My Soul" were sung by Mrs. J. Ellis Webb, who was accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth Shanks.

Mrs. Seaman, nee Anna Barbara Gast, was born on June 1, 1870, on a farm northwest of Nora Springs, one of ten children of Andrew and Sarah Hines Gast.

She spent her entire life in this community, and attended the Nora Springs Seminary. On September 15, 1909, she was married to Benjamin Seaman. To them was born one son, Robert Milton Seaman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1938, and by eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son; a granddaughter, Lea Ann Seaman; and one sister, Mrs. Josephine Squier, all of Nora Springs.

Mrs. Seaman belonged to the Rebekah lodge and attended the Methodist church.
