Local Man Succumbs
From Heart Trouble.

Dave A. Gildner, 71, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died last Thursday, January 20, 1955, at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, where he had been a patient since January 7, suffering with heart trouble. He had suffered his first attack in May, 1951, having been hosptialized a month at that time, and had had similar attacks since.

The last rites were held at 3:30 Sunday afternoon, January 23 in the Methodist church at Rock Falls. The Rev. J. Ellis Webb of Nora Springs and the Rev. George Scheider of Plymouth officiated at the services. Interment was in the Rock Falls cemetery.

The vocalists were Mrs. Dale Jackson and Mrs Merlin Byington, with Mrs. Everett White as accompanist. The casket was borne by Del Dunton, John Gorkowski, Carl Hansen, Art Wetter, Ed O'Donnell and Bob Craw. The many lovely floral tributes were arranged by Mrs. John Gorkowski, Mrs.Dick Clausen, Mrs. Ed O'Donnell and Mrs. Carsten Bahnsen. Everett White, Dick Clausen and Carsten Bahnsen served as ushers.

Mr. Gildner, a son of Henry F.and Sarah J. (Gast) Gildner, was born Jan. 9, 1884, on a farm near Rock Falls. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge, Rock Falls, for more than 50 years, and of the IOOF Granite Lodge, Nora Springs, since 1912. He was a charter member of the Birthday 500 club at Rock Falls.

He had farmed the "home farm" on the east edge of Rock Falls, for 42 consecutive years before moving to Nora Springs in 1951.

He was married to Katherine Kroubetz of the Manly vicinity on March 1, 1905, and they had two children, both of whom survive: Paul J. Gildner of Nora Springs and Mrs. S. A. (Velma)
McKee of Mason City, Mrs. Gildner died November 2, 1949.

He was married to Gretta Holcombe Sept. 1, 1950. In addition to his widow, one son and one daughter, he is survied by a sister, Mrs. C. A. (Maggie) Swedberg of Nora Springs; a stepson, Don T. Keeny of Manly; and three grandchildren, Gary and Linda Gildner of Nora Springs and Marvin McKee of Mason City. One sister, Mrs. Carl (Laura) Draheim, also preceded him in death.

Relatives attending the services included Mrs. Stella Kroubetz and Leslie Kroubetz, Olivia, Minn.; Harold Kroubetz, Mankato, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Hackbart, Mrs. Frank Kroubetz and John Stronner, Manly; Albert Krobertz, Plymouth.

Mr.and Mrs. Cliff Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. Emory Cooper, Manly; Roy Navarital, Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Gildner, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Wilkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wilkinson, all of Nevada; and Mr. and Mrs. Don T. Keeney and Donnie, Manly; and many others from Nora Springs, Clear Lake, Plymouth, Manly, Doughtery, Mason City and Rockwell.
