MARBLE ROCK, IOWA - Milton R. Staudt, 72, of 2519 Kirkwood Ave., Marble Rock, died Saturday (June 10, 2000) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville, rural Marble Rock, with the Rev. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by Stroud Gates Post 387 American Legion of Marble Rock.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Parish Hall, 2395 Highway 14, Marble Rock, where there will be a parish rosary service at 4 p.m. and a scriptural wake service followed by a rosary service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour before services.

Milton Robert Staudt was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Union Township, Floyd County, a son of Joseph Mark and Vera Mae (Katcher) Staudt. He received his education at the St. Mary's School at Roseville and started working on the family farm as a young man. On May 7, 1952, he was inducted into the United States Army, where he served with the 97th Engineer Battalion. He was honorably discharged on April 17, 1954. He returned to Marble Rock and resumed farming.

On Aug. 3, 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Hart at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mason City. To this union were born two sons. Milton remained active in the farming operation until his death. He was past president of the Marble Rock Lions Club, past commander of the Stroud Gates Post 387 American Legion, and served on the Board of Directors of Friendship Acres. He was a lifelong faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville.

Living family members include his loving wife, Mary Ellen, of Marble Rock; two sons and their spouses, Terry and Susan Staudt, of Mason City, Gerald "Butch" and Kelly Staudt, of Marble Rock; six grandchildren, Jacob Staudt, Chris Jung, Cathleen Jung, April Staudt, Angie Staudt, and Amber Staudt; two sisters, Joan Donavan of California City, Calif., and Shirley and her husband, Eugene Brunsman, of Kirbyville, Mo.; three brothers and their spouses, Merrill and Della Staudt, of West Plains, Mo., Ray and Connie Staudt, of Winter Park, Fla., and Wayne and Diane Staudt, of Greenfield, Wis.; a brother-in-law, Arnold Holt, of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jeanne Holt; and brother-in-law, Thomas Donavan.
