Douglas D. Lee, 55, formerly of Spring Valley, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his daughter Tona’s home in Bloomington following an 11-month battle with cancer.

Douglas Dean Lee was born January 26, 1955 in Charles City, Iowa to Bobbie and Mavis (Sorensen) Lee. He grew up on the family farm and attended Rockwell and Clear Lake Iowa schools. He moved with his family in 1971 to rural Spring Valley and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1973. Doug was employed at Lake Center Industries in Stewartville and Menards in Rochester prior to his marriage in 1977 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley to Deb Howard. Following their marriage the couple lived in Spring Valley and Doug was employed at DHIA Testing in Fillmore County. They were later divoriced. He was married in 1983 to Marsha Horsman and was employed at Spring Valley Cheese. They lived in Spring Valley and were later divoriced.

Doug was then employed at Quality Pork in Austin and Elcor Construction in Rochester prior to his marriage in 1999 to MaryAnn Eberle and they lived in rural Spring Valley. He was employed at Tri-State Cold Storage in Rochester and following his seperation from his wife, he moved to Bloomington in 2008. He was currently employed at Deli Express in Hopkins. Doug was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley and enjoyed vintage cars, NASCAR, collecting die-cast cars and keeping up with local and national news. He especially enjoyed going to the family farm and helping his brother with the horses, visiting with friends and family and time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters: Tona (Alberto) Fierro of Bloomington; Anatashia “Annie” Amick of Yuma, Arizona; mother, May Lee of rural Spring Valley; step-son, Derek Thorson of Grand Meadow; three granddaughters: Isabella, Amaya and Noelia; three step grandchildren: Tyler Merkel, Christopher and Lindsey Thorson; three step-sons: Nate, Josh and Andrew McGill; three brothers: Steven of rural Spring Valley; twin brother, Donald of Elba; Larry (Barb) of rural Spring Valley and many neices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobbie; infant brother, Darrell and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Funeral services will be at 11a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley with Rev. Beth Perez officiating. Burial will be in Sumner-Millett Cemetery in rural Spring Valley. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday Oct. 29, 2010 at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. Arrangements are being handled by Griffin-Gray Funeral Home, Stewartville
