ALBERT LEA, MINNESOTA - Funeral services for Donald E. Sallee, 70, of Albert Lea, were held Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Marcia Hall and the Rev. Douglas Wahlberg officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery, with Military honors by Freeborn County Area Servicemen's Clubs.
Visitation was held Friday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.
Donald died on Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Naeve Hospital.
Donald was born on February 10, 1929, at Marble Rock, the son of Verle J. and Myna J. (Ritter) Sallee. Donald gradated from high school in Kensett, in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 1946 until April 22, 1948.
On May 19, 1950, he was united in marriage to Luan E. Land at the Lutheran Church, Northwood. Donald was a time study engineer for 39 years for Scotsman Industries, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. Donald enjoyed woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Luan, Albert Lea; children, Jerry and his wife, Karon Sallee, Wenatchee, Wash., Lori and husband, Fred Schulte, Albert Lea, Ellen and husband, Steve Carey, Missoula, Montana, Edward and wife, Victoria Sallee, Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Deean and husband, Timothy Philbin, St. John, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Amy, Laura, and Brooke, of Washington, Ryan, Jay, Jayne and Adam, of Albert Lea, Kristen and Michelle, of Montana, Jenny and Cassie, of Georgia, Brian and Matthew, of Indiana; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica; two sisters, Doris Throne, Mason City, and Norma Nunn, Reedsport, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
