ERWIN H. SIEWERTSEN

NORA SPRINGS, IOWA - Erwin H. Siewertsen, 84, of Nora Springs, died Sunday (April 11, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Nora Springs, with the Rev. Ruth Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Rock Falls Cemetery, Rock Falls.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye Ave., and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa, Mason City.

Erwin H. Siewertsen was born Sept. 22, 1914, in Rock Falls, the son of Julius and Johanna (Witt) Siewertsen. Erwin had two sisters and four brothers. Erwin received his education in Rock Falls schools. He farmed on the home place until 1951, when he and his family moved to the Floyd farm.

He married Cornellia Lang on March 1, 1938, in Albert Lea, Minn. They had seven children.

Erwin retired from farming in 1982 and moved to Nora Springs. Erwin enjoyed hunting, fishing and card playing. He was a member of the Rock Falls Senior Citizens Center, St. Luke Lutheran Church in Nora Springs, and the State Brown Swiss Association.

Those left to cherish Erwin's memory are his wife, Cornellia Siewertsen, Nora Springs; seven children, Venita Roy and her husband, Oliver, Apple Valley, Minn., Rosa Beth Bass, Ionia, Idona Sue Patton and her husband, Jack, Cedar Rapids, Martha Kopejtka and her husband, Dewayne Sr., O'Neill, Neb., Dvona Siewertsen, Waseca, Minn., Maynard Siewertsen and his wife, Deb., Floyd and Olene Schroeder and her husband, Allen, Greene; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Siewertsen, Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Irma Honeycull, Shafter, Calif.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and three brothers.
