ROSE MAY HART

NORA SPRINGS - Rose May Hart, 95, of 117 N. Iowa Ave., died Monday (March 22, 1999) at Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Nora Springs First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Pippert and the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in Rock Grove Cemetery, Nora Springs.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 N. Hawkeye, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Rose May Hart was born Oct. 8, 1903 on a farm near Nora Springs, the daughter of Winfield G. and Ethel (Ayers) Hart. She attended country school No. 1 in Rock Grove Township for her first eight years of schooling and then attended Nora Springs School. She graduated from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

Rose taught for many years in the Nora Springs schools and the nearby schools at Plymouth and Marble Rock. She loved books and after retirement from teaching worked as a librarian in the Nora Springs Public Library. She and her nephew, Terrill Thiele, recently finished several books on their family history.

Rose was a lifelong member of the Nora Springs First United Methodist Church and attended church as long as she was able.

She is survived by one sister, Winifred Shanks, and her husband, Russell, Nora Springs, and 15 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Benjamin, Oliver "Tom" and Albert; and two sisters, Mabel Thiele and Ruth Stufflebeam.
