Death: October 11, 2010David Marth, 74, of Floyd, Floyd County, Iowa, died on Monday, October 11, 2010, at the Hospice Muse-Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.
Memorial services for David Marth will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa. Pastor Jane Keel will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, Iowa, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010, and an hour prior to the service at the church.
David Robert Marth was born on March 12, 1936, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Otto and Elsie (Daake) Marth. He received his education at Charles City, Iowa.
On September 10, 1961, he was united in marriage to Marlene Michael. He along with Marlene fulfilled their desire to become foster parents, which included 46 different foster children. David was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church. His interests included fishing, boating, hunting, quilting and working with his hands. David would like to be remembered in joyous laughter.
Living family members include his wife, Marlene Marth of Floyd, Iowa; a daughter Theresa (Dennis) Groesbeck of Lyle; daughters given by God, Dori (Dale) King, Michelle (Eric) Weringa, Kelly Swenstad and fiancé Jon Marx all of Winnebago and Pam (Mike) Merry of Owatonna; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Dan (Selma) Marth of Rockford, Iowa, and Gary (Sandy) Marth and John (Marcella) Marth both of Charles City, Iowa; a sister, Carol Perkins of Britt, Iowa; multiple nieces and nephews along with the Koosman family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Eric Louks; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Perkins.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
