Death: October 14, 2010Robert F. “Bob” Heller, 78, of Charles City, died Thursday morning, October 14, 2010, at Cedar Health in Charles City.
Funeral services for Robert Heller will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City. Pastor Dennis Niezwaag will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. at the church on Monday.
Robert Francis Heller was born September 27, 1932, in Orchard, the son of Verle and Natalie (Newton) Heller. He graduated from the Orchard High School in 1950. On June 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Verla Kamin at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Bob was a carpenter for Triad Construction for 25 years, Quade Construction for 10 years and Comprehensive Systems until his retirement in 1990. Along with carpentry, Bob farmed in the Charles City area. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and Card Club. Bob was a 4H Leader. His interests included woodworking, mushroom hunting, collecting coins, watching birds, gardening, tractors, his model A Ford and driving around checking on the crops.
Living family members include his wife, Verla Heller of Charles City; four children, Jean (Wayne) King of Charles City, Jeff (Mary) Heller of Tallahassee, Fla., Jill Jensen and special friend, Dave Schultz of Greene and Jim Heller of Charles City; eight grandchildren, brother-in-law, John Bauman of Osage; sister-in-law, Linda Heller of Mason City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Ferlin Jensen; sister, Betty Bauman; and brother, Kenneth Heller.
