Lucille was born on April 20, 1910, at Rockwell, one of six children to Frank B. and Lulu A. (Bell) Tourtellott. She spent her early years in Rockwell, graduating from the Rockwell High School. She then attended Mason City Junior College and then Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She graduated from Wartburg with a degree in teaching.

She was employed as a country school teacher in Cerro Gordo County, then spent 19 years teaching hundreds of elementary school children in the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school system, retiring in 1971.

She then spent time visiting her daughter in Cartersville, Ga., where she continued substitute teaching well into her 70s.

On August 20, 1940, at Holy Name Catholic Church, she was united in marriage to William O'Rourke. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the church circles and was secretary of the Royal Neighbors.

She loved watching baseball, especially the Braves. During one spring training season, she spent every day for a week attending various baseball games with her grandson Matt. She was proud of her flower gardens and spent time reading and doing word searches. She was also an avid fan of "Wheel of Fortune" on television.

Those left to mourn her death include her daughter, Elaine O'Rourke, and her grandson, Matt O'Rourke, both of Cartersville, Ga.; one sister, Arlene Resser, Charles City; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Tourtellott, Newton, and Ruth Ward, Apache Junction, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews and hundreds of her school youngsters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 1985; one sister, Cleo Snurr; and three brothers, Lynn, Lyle and Wayne Tourtellott.
