CHARLES CITY — Eugene "Ben" Burney, 73, of 911 Eleventh St., died Monday (Jan. 18, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Walter Brunkan, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greene, officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery with a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. A vigil scriptural wake service will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass Thursday at the church.

Eugene "Ben" Burney was born Nov. 6, 1925, in Charles City.

He is survived by two sons, Tom Burney, Shoreview, Minn., and Bill Burney, Charles City; a daughter, Jane Jans, Stanhope; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, a brother and three sisters.
