CHARLES CITY — Dorothy L. Diebold, 78, of the Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, formerly of 1471 Highway 18, Rudd, died Friday (Jan. 22, 1999) at the nursing home following a lengthy illness.

At Dorothy's request, her body was cremated and memorial funeral services will take place at a later date. There will be no visitation. Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Diebold, the former Dorothy Lucille Froid, was born Feb. 4, 1920, in Lyons, Neb., the daughter of Gilbert and Edna (Baker) Froid. She married Joseph Samuel Mazzollo, who preceded her in death. She then married Harry Edward Diebold, who also preceded her in death. For several years, she was a close companion of Raymond Sawyer, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Diebold owned and operated several restaurants during her lifetime. She had previously lived in the Chicago area before moving to the Rudd and Charles City areas.

Living family members include two daughters, Laura Gandy of Grand View, Wis., and Diana Giambelluca of Mitchellville; a brother, Franklin Froid of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister, Marian Haag, of Cleveland, Ohio; a special niece whom her parents raised, Pat Froid Wood, of Chicago, Ill.; and several grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, husbands and special friend, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin and Milo Froid.
