Charles “Chuck” Hill, 63, of Charles City, died Sunday evening, September 26, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.
Memorial services for Chuck Hill will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Bishop Ron Billings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.
Charles Edward Hill was born December 12, 1946, in Houston, Texas, the son of Harold and Gladys (Nunely) Hill. He attended school and later received his GED. On July 7, 1976, Chuck was united in marriage to Marilyn Beard. Over the years he worked as a deckhand in the Gulf of Mexico, as a miner in Arizona and as a mechanic. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While living in Arizona he was also a member of the Elks Club. Chuck enjoyed fishing and playing computer games. He also looked forward to spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Living family members include his four children, Betty ( Jesse) Figueroa of Mesa, Ariz., Connie (Anthony) Stapler of Ft. Bliss, Tex., Michael (Diane) Smith of Charles City and Angel (Kenneth) Dees of Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his father, Harold Hill of Tyler. Tex.; and two sisters, Carolyn Bridgeford of San Antonio, Tex. and Evelyn (Jerry) Johnston, Tyler, Tex.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife on August 25, 2007.
