MARBLE ROCK, IOWA — Funeral services for Randie G. Johnson, 44, of 1640 285th St., Marble Rock, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 1998, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marble Rock, with Pastor John Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Reid’s Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock where there will be a public Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Randie Gene Johnson was born May 26, 1954, at Franklin County General Hospital in Hampton, a son of Andie and Marvel Jean (Winfield) Johnson, and died Monday (June 29, 1998) at his home in Marble Rock of congestive heart failure.

He received his education in the Rudd, Rockford and Marble Rock public schools, graduating in 1973. As a young man, he worked on the family farm west of Marble Rock and later farmed on his own and raised dairy cattle.

On July 12, 1980, he was united in marriage to Janice Ann Wells at Zion Lutheran Church in Rockford. To this union were blessed three children. The marriage ended in 1995.

Randie was employed by Armour Foods in Mason City from 1984 to 1989 and later worked for Wood Harbor Molding in Mason City. He drove school bus for the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock School District for the last six years and delivered the Look and Shop Shopper on the rural routes.

His interests included going to auctions, drinking coffee at the Breaktime and Clanceys II and watching college basketball and NFL football on television.

Randie was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marble Rock where he served on the church council and worked on the Marble Rock Fund Days Committee. He was always willing to help whenever help was needed.

He will be sadly missed by his three children, Rebbeca Ann, Bradley Gene and Brandon Lee, all of Marble Rock; their mother, Janice, of Sioux City; two sisters, Cathy Mae Kruse and her husband, Gary Schmidt, of Marble Rock, and Georgene and her husband, Jim Johnson, of Allison; one brother, David and his wife, Kathleen Johnson, of Riceville; his nieces and nephews, Andrew Kruse, Gary Schmidt Jr., Russel, Michael, Matthew, Melissa and Mark Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Eugene, Dennie and Terry Johnson.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Randie Johnson Memorial Fund in care of the family.
