CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Charles W. Anderson, 81, died Saturday (Aug. 29, 1998) at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. at the Reinbeck Cemetery, Reinbeck.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hauser Funeral Home, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Wednesday.
Charles Wilson Anderson was born Jan. 20, 1917, at Vinton.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, of Charles City; three daughters, Nyola Thede and Cheryl Stockdale, both of Reinbeck, and Lynette Hartsock of Wellman; three sons, Gaylon Anderson and Lyden Anderson, both of Reinbeck, and Eugene Meyer of Wichita, Kan.; two step-sons, Elmer Janssen of Waterloo, and Gordon Janssen of Lake Whitney, Texas; four step-daughters, Geraldine Schultz and Pearl Griffin, both of Nashua, Doris Hicok of Mason City, and JoAnn DeGeus of Britt; a foster son, Eugene Meyer of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Donald Anderson of Torrence, Calif.; two sisters, Doris Houstman of Charles City, and Francis Banks, unknown address; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 34 step-great-grandchildren; and six step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, a step-son, a brother, and a grandson.
