Robert G. Beal

NORA SPRINGS — Robert G. Beal, 71, of Ponderosa Ct., No. 28, died Saturday (Oct. 24, 1998) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Major-Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Kenneth Hatland of Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Clear Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Robert G. Beal Memorial Fund.

Robert G. Beal was born July 20, 1927, to Archie and Laura (Larson) Beal in Garner. He attended school in Garner. Robert farmed with his father near Garner for many years. He then moved to Bondurant where he worked as the custodial supervisor and a bus driver for the school system. He retired in 1992. He then worked for Des Moines Area Community College for several years, before moving to Rudd in 1996. Robert married Cleatus Martin in Bondurant on June 17, 1977. The couple moved to Nora Springs in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Cleatus, of Nora Springs; daughter, Dianna Dempsey of Bettendorf, son, Michael Beal of Newport, Minn., daughter, Roberta Williams of Shawnee, Kan., son, Tom Beal of Davenport, step-daughter, Bernice Bellcourt of Waterloo; mother, Laura Beal of Mason City; sister, Maxine Ulrich of College Grove, Minn.; close cousin, Mildred Allen of Mason City; 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1958; son, Gary, in 1976; and step-son, Melvin, in 1998.
