RUDD, IOWA — Mrs. Louise B. LaFrentz, 101, of Rudd, died Monday (Oct. 19, 1998) at the Nora Springs Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Rudd, with the Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd.
Visitation will begin at noon on Thursday at the church.
The family suggests memorials to the Louise LaFrentz Memorial Fund.
Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs, is in charge of arrangements.
Louise was born near Hamburg, Germany, on August 3, 1897, the daughter of Fred and Sophia Esbaum. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Germany. She came to the United States at the age of 14 to Wheatland.
Louise married Ernest LaFrentz in 1916 in Wheatland and they moved to Canada and farmed there for four years. They moved back to the United States in 1920 and farmed east of Rudd. Ernest died in 1965. She continued to live on the farm until 1979, when she moved into Rudd.
Louise was very well disciplined, a hard worker, well known for her strong will, gardening, cooking and baking apple pies and chocolate cakes.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rudd.
Louise is survived by three grandchildren, Ron LaFrentz and his wife, Ellen, of Monona; Pat Points and her husband, Jim, of Atlanta; and Jim Robichaud, of Augusta, Ga.; four great-grandchildren, Ann Kielkopf and her husband, Todd, of Columbia, Mo.; Raef LaFrentz, of Denver, Colo.; Scott and Kelly Points, of Atlanta; one great-great-granddaughter, Katie Anne Kielkopf, of Columbia, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1965; one son, Andy LaFrentz; and one daughter, Irene Robichaud.
