Dolores I. “Dee” Arey 76, of 710 1st. S.W., Nora Springs, Iowa died Thursday July 8, 2010 at the Nora Springs Care Center, Nora Springs, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 1:30p.m. Monday July 12, 2010 at the Christian Church, 102 N. Hawkeye, Nora Springs, Iowa with Pastor Don Muessigmann officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Nora Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, Nora Springs and then one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. Family suggests memorials to Dolores “Dee” Arey memorial fund.

Dee was born on October 16, 1933 in Nora Springs, Iowa the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Palmer) Bitterman. She lived in the Nora Springs area and later moved with her family to Tripoli, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1952.

Dee married Robert Arey March 3, 1961 in Albany, Illinois. They lived in Clinton, Iowa where she worked at the hospital as a nurse’s aide. In 1982 they moved to Nora Springs, Iowa, where she worked at the Nora Springs Care Center. She also did babysitting.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending all their activities. She enjoyed reading, doing crafts, flowers, fishing and horses.

She was a member of the Christian Church, Nora Springs, Iowa.

Dee is survived by her husband Robert Arey, Nora Springs, Iowa; her mother Gladys Bitterman, Waterloo, Iowa; two children Mike Arey, Woden, Iowa and Terrie Kunkel and her husband Russell, Wesley, Iowa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Clarence Bitterman and his wife Marion, Independence, Iowa; her sister Doretta Brandhorst and her husband Jim, Cedar Falls, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and infant son Paul.
