Ruth Bork, 95, of Charles City, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

Funeral services for Ruth Bork will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor David Werges of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Ruth Marguerite Bork was born August 9, 1914, at Floyd, the daughter of August and Mae (Bice) Volbrecht. She attended school at Floyd. On November 27, 1929, she was united in marriage to Alfred Bork. Alfred and their daughter Janice were killed in an automobile accident in 1946. Ruth then married Burdette Ferch on September 28, 1946. For a number of years Ruth worked at Olan Mills Studios in Waterloo and in the early 1960’s operated the Riverside Café in Charles City. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, going on fishing trips, her pets and playing cards, especially Euchre tournaments at the Moose Lodge and VFW. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to Ruth and she looked forward to spending time with them.

Living family members include three children, Phyllis Gifford of Charles City, Keith (Betty) Ferch of Charles City and Randy Ferch of Paducah, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Antonette Wiltse of Waverly; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a daughter, Janice Bork; a son, Philip Bork; a great grandson, Kye Reit; three sisters, Belva Brandon, Erma Volbrecht and Mary Beck; and three brothers, Keith Auchstetter, Joseph Auchstetter and Tony Auchstetter.
