Maxine Watkins, 69, of Charles City, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at her home.

The family will greet friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Maxine Lorraine Reiter Watkins was born January 2, 1941, in Waverly, the daughter of Eno and Isabel (Hesse) Reiter. She attended school at Marble Rock and later received her GED. On August 15, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jerald Watkins, Sr. They lived in Charles City all of their lives. Maxine always enjoyed gardening. She also looked forward to spending time with her grandchildren and having a rousing card game with them.

Living family members include her husband, Jerald Watkins, Sr. of Charles City; three children, Jerald Watkins, Jr. of Charles City, Brian (Kimberly) Watkins of Charles City and Jeannie (Tim) Eekhoff of Pittsville, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Jared, Dwight, Jordan and Sara Watkins, Zachary and Alexis Watkins and Stephanie Eekhoff; three brothers, Melvin (Ann) Reiter of Charles City, Merlyn (Ramona) Reiter of Rockford and Alvin Reiter of Marble Rock; and a sister, Marlys Reiter of Hansell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two nephews, Melvin Reiter, Jr. and Kevin Reiter.
