Ronald W. Klimesh, 68, of Charles City, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, in his home, after a 12 year battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Ronald Klimesh will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Pastor David Werges will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday at the church an hour prior to the service.

Ronald William Klimesh was born July 18, 1941, at Waucoma, the son of William and Alice (Infel) Klimesh. He was employed at White Farm in Charles City for 26 years and GMT in Waverly for 13 years. Throughout the years, Ron built many homes in the Charles City area, including his family’s home. On June 29, 1991, he was united in marriage to Gayla Jean Smith in the backyard of their home. He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Ron worked hard and played hard. He enjoyed dancing, traveling in the motor home with his wife, and camping with family and friends. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed time in his backyard; frequent fishing trips; and water skiing behind his boat until the age of 65.

Living family members include his two daughters, Kristin (Jason) Myli of St. Charles and Sarah (Brendan) McMenomy of St. Louis Park, Minn.; three grandchildren, Austin and Lauren Myli and Kian McMenomy; two sisters, Rosie (Art) Stika of Decorah and Ruth (Lester) Praska of Calmar; and many nieces and nephews. He is dearly loved and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife on August 8, 2004.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
