CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Florence (Mrs. Lawrence) Theis, 84, a former resident of Cedar Terrace South, died Saturday (Nov. 28, 1998) at the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery at Ionia.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. St. Mary's Circle will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. and the vigil scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will resume an hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church.

Florence Agnes McGowen Theis was born Jan. 31, 1914, in Chickasaw County.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Staudt, Marble Rock, Kathy Blocker, New Hampton, and Pat Rissler, Charles City; two sisters, Iva Musch, Evansdale, and Gladys Goodling, Big Fork, Minn.; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, a daughter and two grandsons.
