Milton H. Brandau, 78, of Charles City, died Saturday morning, June 26, 2010, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Graveside services for Milton Brandau will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Sister M. Diana Blong, PBVM, Pastoral Associate, of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate. Following the graveside services family and friends are invited to gather at the Immaculate Conception Church Social Hall at 2:30 p.m.

Milton Herman Brandau Jr., was born in Osage, Iowa on October 30, 1931, to Milton and Myrtle (Naig) Brandau. Milt worked at Midland Linotype School as an instructor for 10 years. He was a United States postal worker for over 20 years and a United States Air Force veteran during the Korean conflict. Milt was an outgoing, charismatic and hard working family man and friend.

Milton was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the American Legion. He loved gardening, good food, keeping up with the news and weather, playing cards, talking with friends, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by Maureen Brandau of Charles City, his wife of 54 years; four daughters: Kim (Brad) Frantzen of Kansas City, Kelly Brandau of Sacramento, California, Tracy (Kevin) Green of Houston, Texas, and Ann (Carlos) Brandau–Murguia of Kansas City; his son, Tony, of Charles City; his eight grandchildren and his sister, Jean Meyer of Charles City. His warmth and wisdom is cherished by many people whose lives he touched. He is loved and will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
