CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Zita C. (Mrs. Kenneth) Jung, 98, of Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home, and formerly of 509 S. Main St., Charles City, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at the nursing home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, U. S. Highway 18 and Clark Street, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City with a rosary at 3 p.m. recited by St. Jude's Circle and a Parish Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. There will be further visitation one hour prior to mass on Friday at the church.

Mrs. Jung, the former Zita Catherine Meyer, was born April 27, 1900, in rural Meyer, Mitchell County, Iowa, the daughter of Peter J. and Adelheid (Wolf) Meyer. She attended school in Meyer.

On May 11, 1929, at Immaculate Conception Church, in Charles City, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Oscar "Red" Jung. The couple made their home in Charles City. Mr. Jung died Nov. 28, 1995, in Charles City.

Mrs. Jung was a housekeeper for the Melvin Ellis Sr. family for nine years. Mrs. Jung was also an assistant cook for various places in Charles City.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Jude Circle, Rosary Society and the CDD of the church. She also belonged to the Charles City Senior Citizens and the Jolly Pots Birthday Club.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking (especially pie baking), flowers and gardening, fishing and playing cards.

Living family members include a son and his wife, Gerald and Joan Jung, of Charles City; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Dugan, of Charles City; three grandchildren, James Jung and his wife, Laurie, of Eagle Lake, Minn.; Julie Jung, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Janean Hajek and her husband, Tom, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph and Christopher Hajek, of Cedar Rapids.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Everett, William, Sylvester, Raymond and Joseph; and five sisters, Christina, Francis, Elizabeth, Ann and Margaret.
