John ‘Jack’ Soles

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — John "Jack" Soles; 75, a retired employee of Salsbury Laboratories, Charles City, died Saturday, May, 18, 1985, at a Charles City nursing home.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church on Chapel Lane, Charles City. Dr. Jerry Springston will officiate and burial will be at Sunnyside, Memory Gardens, Charles City. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today until 9 tonight, from 9 - 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home; 1205 S. Main, Charles City, and after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Soles was born Dec. 9, 1909, in Paris, Ontario, Canada, to John and Elizabeth (Midgeley) Soles. He was educated in Burford, Ontario, Canada schools and moved to Charles City in 1936 when he became associated with Dr. Salsbury's Laboratories

On June 12, 1937 he married Floris Molgard at Santa Ana, California. Mr. Soles retired from Salsbury Laboratories in 1975 after 39 years with the corporation. He was a member of the Charles City Kiwanis Club, First Baptist Church where he was a trustee and First Baptist Church Brotherhood; he also repaired clocks as a hobby.

Survivors include his wife, Floris; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Joan) Reser, of Dougherty; three grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Lillian Boman of Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada.
