The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Don Sullivan, 84, of Charles City, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at his home.

Monsignor Stanley Hayek will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Calvary Cemetery at Cresco. There will be a flag presentation by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

Donald Jerome Sullivan was born August 3, 1925, at Elma, the son of Peter and Gertrude (Hoppe) Sullivan. He graduated from the Cresco High School. Don proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.

On October 24, 1955 he was united in marriage to Gladys Bakken. Gladys died on January 31, 1965. Don then married Kathleen Schwickerath on April 1, 1967.

Over the years Don was self-employed for a time and also worked at Ladish Drop Forage in Cudahy, Wis., International Harvester, White Farm Equipment Company, Boone Quinn Foundry and Charles City Parks and Recreation. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Living family members include his wife, Kathleen Sullivan of Charles City; four children, Carolyn (Jeff) Henry of Cedar Rapids, Mary (Jerry) Meyer of Lincoln, Nebr., David Sullivan of Cedar Rapids and Kathy (Tim) Peterson of Aurelia; nine grandchildren, Kalese and Kestrel Henry, Jacob, Joshua and Meghan Meyer, Henry, Oliver, Nora and Elsie Peterson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Gladys; three sisters, Margaret Nowicki, Lorraine Potter and Pauline Guzick; and two brothers, Lee Sullivan and Joe Weiland.
