Herman A. Hoger Rites Friday at Charles City

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at St. John Lutheran Church for Herman A. Hoger, 90, retired building and\roofing contractor. He died Tuesday at the home of his son, Harland Hoger, here. The Rev. Werner A. Bischoff, pastor, will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with Masonic rites at the graveside.

He had been making his home with his son since the death of his wife, three years ago. He had been active in business here for more than 50 years and established the business which is still being continued by his son.

He was born May 17, 1867, in Germany, the son of August and Augusta Hoger. He came to this country at age five, with his parents. He received his education in Charles City. On January 31, 1894, he was married to Mary Grossholz. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge and White Shrine.

Besides his son here, he is survived by another sn, Wesley, Phoenia, Arizona, and a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Zimmer, Charles City; one sister, Mrs. Ida Peske, Charles City; and a brother, Otto, Redondo, California; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.

His daughter, Mrs. Earl Leaman, died November 6, and a son, Grafton, died in infancy; three brothers, and two sisters also preceded him in death.
