Dian Marlene (Boelsen) Koenigsfeld was born on April 18, 1949 at the Charles City Hospital. She graduated from Charles City High School and attended Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she earned a degree in Sociology. On April 16, 1977, she was united in marriage to Richard Koenigsfeld of Marble Rock, Iowa. Dian enjoyed many things in life, and she always gave 110% to the activities she was involved in. She was a fitness enthusiast, which was evident by her dedication to the RRMR weightroom. Exercise was a staple in Dian’s life, and she found great enjoyment by inspiring others to lead a healthy lifestyle. Dian enjoyed shaping children’s lives through her work as an educator at the school.
Her “can do” attitude and positive spirit touched countless lives of the children and adults alike whom had the pleasure of crossing paths with Dian. When she wasn’t at the school, Dian could most likely be found spending some quality time with her grandchildren. She loved all of her grandchildren very much and was anxiously awaiting the birth of her newest granddaughter in April. Dian enjoyed tending her many gardens, reading romantic novels, or just taking a walk on a beautiful day. She spent countless hours enjoying the outdoors with her husband. Her love for life and willingness to share this passion was what really marked her life as special. Even when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer, Dian never once said, “I can’t”. She served as an inspiration to everyone around her by continuing to exercise, play with her grandchildren, and, most of all, sharing her love with everyone around her.
Living family members include her husband, Rich Koenigsfeld of Marble Rock; son, Nate Koenigsfeld of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Amanda (Paul) Pearson of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Koenigsfeld of Souix Falls, S.D.; grandchildren Joshua, Matthew, and Emma Pearson, of Rockford; brother Gene (Beth) Boelsen of Nora Springs; mother-in-law, Marcella Koenigsfeld of Greene; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gabe in November 2009, parents Peter and Ruth Boelsen; and father-in-law Lawrence Koenigsfeld.
