Death: Apr. 18, 2009Rosina M. "Rose" (nee Mathers) Venzke, 66, of 805 N. Van Buren, Mason City, died Saturday (April 18, 2009) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mason City, with the Rev. Kathy Graves officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City, and then one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. The family suggests memorials to North Iowa Humane Society.
Rose was born on July 20, 1942, in Mason City, the daughter of Floyd and Alta (Billings) Bowen. She graduated from Nora Springs-Rock Falls High School in 1960.
Rose married Duane Coe and they lived in Portland, Iowa, where she enjoyed raising horses. She worked various jobs in Rudd.
Rose met Wayne Venzke in 1983 and they lived in Clear Lake and in 1987 moved to Mason City. She attended La James, Mason City and then owned and operated a beauty shop in her home. She started working for Principal in 1991 and continued to work there until she retired in 2004.
Rose enjoyed reading, card making, camping and taking care of her puppies. She was a strong supporter and contributor to North Iowa Humane Society.
Rose is survived by her husband, Wayne Venzke, Mason City; two children, Jeff Coe and his wife, Kathy, Mason City, and Jane Longwell and her husband, Mark, Lee's Summit, Mo.; two step-sons, Butch Venzke and his wife, Kelly, Manly, Jay Venzke and his wife, Molly, Seattle, Wash.; step-daughter, Dee Ruiz, and her husband, Tony, Clear Lake; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Penny Cordes, Floyd; niece, Shannon Cordes; sister-in-law, Shirley Hare, and her husband, Richard, Ida Grove, Iowa; and her best friend, Linda Weatherwax, Rock Falls, Iowa.
