Darlene (Stickney) Shaw

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA - Mrs. John W. (Darlene) Shaw, 58, of Augusta, Georgia, and formerly of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Saturday (Jan. 27, 1996) at home.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Augusta, Ga., with the Rev. Michael Ring officiating. There will be no visitation as her body was cremated.

Elliott and Sons Funeral Home, Augusta, Ga., is in charge of the arrangements.

Darlene was born Aug. 26, 1937, in Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa, the daughter of Jess Sr. and Louise Stickney. She moved with her parents to Nora Springs where she attended school. She was a 1955 graduate of Nora Springs High School.

In 1957, she was united in marriage to John W. "Wesley" Shaw and due to his career in the U.S. Army traveled many places and eventually retired in Augusta, Georgia.

She had a deep love for her church and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Augusta, Ga., and served in many church capacities.

Survivors include her husband, John W. "Wesley" Shaw of Augusta, Ga.; two daughters, Vicki Harris, Bad Kreuznach, Germany, and Kristi Jones, Augusta, Ga.; two sons, John Dee Shaw, Augusta, Ga., and Eric Shaw, MaCombe, Okla.; two brothers, Jess Stickney Jr. and wife, Jinny, Rockford, and Jerry Stickney and wife, Bonnie, Nora Springs; four sisters, Clara Ingalls and husband, Walt, Holden Beach, N.C., Dixie Cain and husband, Charles, Tampa, Fla., Sharon Bonjour and husband, Walt, Mason City, and Dianna Orluske and husband, Paul, Nora Springs; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess Sr. and Louise Stickney.
