Marvel Veonne Keough

MASON CITY, IOWA -- Marvel Veonne Keough, 65, of 722 15th St. N.E., died Monday (July 24, 1995) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church, 200 14th St. N.W., with the Rev. Harlan Stenberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Marvel was born Aug. 6, 1929 in Powersville, daughter of Wayne Arhart and Estella (nee) Allen Arhart.

She married James P. Keough on November 29, 1947, in Austin, Minnesota. Marvel grew up in Marble Rock and attended Marble Rock school. She and her husband farmed in Thornton for a few years until moving to Mason City in 1952. They owned and operated N & M Lunch for 10 years.

Marvel loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and raising flowers. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Keough of Mason City; two daughters, Patricia Blau and her husband, Daniel, of Forest City, and Jacqueline Reich and her husband, Keith, of Mason City; three sons, Michael James Keough and his wife, Tina, of Grandview, Mo.; Terry Douglas Keough and his wife, Nancy, of Mason City, and Joseph Allen Keough and his wife, Lea Ann, of Mason City; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eleanor Bramlette and her husband, Claude, of West Covina, Calif.; Nola Seifert and her husband, Scott, of Mason City, and Joyce Hilton and her husband, Jerry, of Yakima, Wash.; one brother, Charles Arhart and his wife, Lorraine, of Altus, Okla.; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Arhart of Northwood; two special family members, Michael Odom of Manly and Dale Hertel of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Travis Keough; three sisters, Shirley Arhart, Delores Arhart and Ila Mayers; two brothers, Claire Arhart and Donald Arhart; and her stepfather, Clarence "Bud" Pitts.
