Viola A. Zimmer, 90, of Charles City, died Saturday evening, February 13, 2010, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Pastor Dennis Niezwaag and Pastor David Werges will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Viola Amanda Ida Krumm was born August 7, 1919, at Elma, the daughter of John J. and Emma (Thies) Krumm. She graduated from the Elma High School in 1937. On May 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Wayne Zimmer at Elma. For many years Viola taught crafts at the Senior Center.

She was a member of the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, church circle, Senior Center, U.A.W. Auxiliary, U.A.W. Retirees and Pension Club. Her interests included crafts, cooking, canning, playing cards, watching the Chicago Bulls and Iowa Hawkeye basketball games on TV and fishing trips up north.

Living family members include her two sons, Gerald “Jerry” Zimmer and special friend Cathy Diercks of Charles City and Jim Zimmer of Lockport, Ill.; grandson, Kurt (Andrea) Zimmer of Seymour, Ind.; twin great grandchildren, Tyler and Kamryn Zimmer; two step great-grandchildren, Calli Diercks and Reid Johnson; sister-in-law, Yvonne Krumm of St. Ansgar: and brother-in-law, Bernie Zimmer of Texarkana, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Berneta Milhan; and a brother, Clarence Krumm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa.
