Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25, 1988 at Schumburg Funeral Home, Rockford, Iowa, for John Arthur "Art" Houser, 78, of Rudd. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Rudd. Mr. Houser died Friday, January 22, 1988 at his home.

He was born on August 14, 1909 in Dallas County, Iowa, to Arthur H. and Delia M. (Lee) Houser. He lived in the area for 45 years.

Mr. Houser and Antoinette Kovachevich were married in 1940 in Gogebic County, Michigan. He was employed at Rudd Lumber. Mr. Houser was a member of the Rudd Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Antoinette of Rudd; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Joy) Messier of Tucson, Arizona, and Mrs. Jerry (Kay) Parcher of Marble Rock; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and three sisters: Virgie Giuney of Georgetown, Texas, Marguerite Moe of Bayfield, Wisconsin, and Louise Saalsaa of Colfax, Wisconsin.
