CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Marie Ann (Martin) Griffin, age 48, of Charles City, died Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. At Marie's request, private family services and interment in Sunnyside Cemetery will be held. Online condolences for Marie may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com

Marie Ann Griffin was born April 21, 1961, in Charles City, the daughter of Cordell and Shirley (Hansen) Martin. She received her education in Nashua, graduating from the Nashua High School in 1979.

In 1980, Marie married Doug Griffin in Charles City. To this union, two children were born. The couple later divorced. Marie worked for many years at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Charles City. In her free time Marie enjoyed cooking and catering but especially enjoyed the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Jamie Griffin, and one son, Joshua Griffin, both of Charles City; five grandchildren, Jasmine Miller, Corden Poyner, Jayden Poyner, Isabell Griffin and Marcus Griffin; her parents, Cordell and Shirley Martin of Nashua; two sisters, Penny (Rick) Kruse of Cedar Falls and Shelly (Steve) Mourer of Sebring, Fla.; one brother, Rod (Teresa) Martin of Mason City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a special friend, Dan Smith.
