MARBLE ROCK, IOWA — Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Mary Ackley, 78, who died Thursday night at the Cedar Valley Hospital at Charles City, were here Monday. She had been in poor health for many, years.

Born Louise Mary Lucian, on a farm on Flood Creek in Floyd county, May 9, 1866, to Zebedee and Julia Lucian.

On November 28, 1894, she was married to Merton I. J. Ackley, of Marble Rock. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1932.

To their union six children were born, four of whom survive, Mrs. Loren F. Arhart, Vancouver, Wash.; Loren D Ackley, Herington, Kan.; Mrs. I H. Wyatt, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs Gerald E. Adams, Marble Rock.

Two daughters preceded her in death, Olive in 1913 and Ruth in 1918.

Mrs. Ackley also leaves 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Delia Brown, Los Angeles, California.

She had been a patient in the Charles City hospital two weeks before death. Her entire life was spent in and around Marble Rock, until the death of her husband, when she made her home among her children.

Died Following Extended
Illness

Mrs. Mary Ackley, age 78, practically a life-long resident of the Marble Rock community, died at the Charles City hospital Thursday night following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Roseville Catholic church and burial was made in the West Side Cemetery, at Marble Rock. The Sacred Heart Guild of the church recited the rosary Sunday evening.

Mrs. Ackley, formerly Louise Mary Lucian, was born on a farm north of Marble Rock May 9, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Zebedee Lucian, and one of a large family.

There is but one of her siblings surviving, a sister, Mrs. Delia Browne of Los Angeles, California.

The Marble Rock woman was married November 28, 1894, to Merton I. J. Ackley of Marble Rock at the home of the bride's parents. Mr. Ackley preceded her in death on April 5, 1932.

There are four children living; Mrs. Loren F. Ahart of Vancouver, Washington, Loren D. Ackley of Herington, Kansas, Mrs. I. H. Wyatt of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Gerald E. Adams of Marble Rock. Also there are 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two daughters preceded her in death, Olive, who died in 1913, and Ruth, who died in 1918.

Mrs. Ackley had spent all of her life in the Marble Rock community until the death of her husband. Since that time, she made her home with her children, spending most of her summers with her daughter in Marble Rock.
