Lawrence “Bud” Lomison, 91, of Charles City, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Lawrence Oliver Lomison was born August 1, 1918, at Waterloo, the son of Homer and Edith (Gumble) Lomison. He graduated in 1936 from East High in Waterloo. Bud worked at Rath Packing before serving in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater. In 1947 he moved north of Bassett where he farmed until 1984.

On April 27, 1956, he was united in marriage to Maxine Sturdivant Rowley. In 1985, after his retirement, they moved to Charles City. He was a member of the Colwell United Church of Christ where he held various offices in the church, American Legion Auxiliary, Heritage Club, Senior Citizens, Charles City Twisters Square Dance Cllub and Marathon 500. Bud also served as a trustee in Deerfield Township. His interests included bowling, playing cards, dancing and woodworking. Over the years he did many odd jobs for his family and friends.

Living family members include two children, Shirley (Russell) Nordman and Kenneth Rowley both of Charles City; four grandchildren, Jeff (Melody) Nordman, Tim Rowley and special friend Becky, Denise (Brian) Kelly and Rachael (Barry) Kelly; six great grandchildren, Chase, Alex, Brianna, Alyssa and Spencer Kelly and Nicole (Travis) Hanaway; and two great great grandchildren, Levi Lindner and Halle Hanaway.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife on April 7, 2006; a daughter-in-law, Mary Rowley, and a sister, Dorothy Kline.
