CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Stephen J. McCauley, 77; insurance agent for 25 years, and before that a barber.

Born on a farm northeast of here and was second youngest of nine children, all of whom preceded him in death except a sister, Mrs. Kate Stuck, South Bend, Indiana.

He leaves his invalid wife and son, Thomas, Chicago.

Funeral is Tuesday.
