William “Bill” J. Rodamaker

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - William “Bill” J. Rodamaker, 88, of Charles City died on Friday, (July 20, 2007) at Cedar Health in Charles City.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, (July 23, 2007) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Lane, in Charles City, with Fr. Carl A. Ries presiding. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Military honors will be accorded by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Those wishing to extend memorials or expressions of sympathy may direct them to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Lane, Charles City, IA 50616. Condolences, stories or thoughts may be sent to the family in the care of Fullerton Funeral Home on line at www.fullertonfh.com.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. The scripture wake service will be held at 4:00 p.m. followed later with a reciting of the Knights of Columbus rosary at 6:30 p.m. The visitation will continue on Monday at the church, one hour prior to “Bill’s” service.

William J. Rodamaker was born February 1, 1919, in Charles City, Iowa, to Harold J. and Beulah (Trask) Rodamaker. He attended Immaculate Conception Catholic school, graduating in 1937. Bill honorably and faithfully served his country during World War II, in the Army, Aviation Engineers. Bill worked for 34 years as a Tool Grinder at White Farm Manufacturing in Charles City, retiring in 1975. He also farmed for 24 years in the Floyd County area.

Bill was as a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #1419, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1011and the V.F.W Post #3914, all in Charles City. Bill loved farming, fishing, especially near Grand Rapids, Minnesota, carpentry, wood working, cement work, as well as dancing, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his special friend, Helen Hoel of Charles City; a sister, Velma Sinnwell of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Harold (Mae) Rodamaker of Charles City and friend, Cletus Shimek of Charles City.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma Rodamaker on August 20, 1986.
