IONIA, Iowa - Dale L. Kellogg, 88, of Ionia died on Friday, (July 20, 2007) at his home in Ionia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, (July 24, 2007) at New Life Community Church, 1960 Gilbert St., in Charles City, with Rev. Mike McAbee officiating. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City. Military honors will be accorded by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City. The visitation will continue on Monday at the church, one hour prior to “Dale’s” service.

Dale Leslie Kellogg was born April 25, 1919, in rural Floyd County, IA, to Luverne and Luella (Voohres) Kellogg. He attended country school in Floyd County.

Dale honorably and faithfully served his country during World War II, in the Army Air Corp. of Engineers. He had received American Theater Service Medal, European-African—Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Following his discharge from the service he returned home and was united in marriage to Wilma E. Martin on March 12, 1949 in Charles City. Dale was employed as a truck driver with Takin Brothers Trucking in Charles City for 33 years, retiring in 1981. He also farmed for most of his life in Floyd and Chickasaw Counties.

Dale was a life member of both the V.F.W Post #3914 and American Legion Post #0174, both in Charles City and he was a member of the Teamsters’ Union.

Dale loved farming, fishing, hunting, the outdoors and gardening. He was very patriotic and enjoyed attending his V.F.W. and Legion reunions. Dale will be best remembered as a man who was hard working, caring, smart, tough and rugged.

Dale is survived by his six children, Leroy (Lynette) Kellogg of Ionia, IA, Mike (Brenda) Kellogg of Riverside, IA, Bruce (Sharon) Kellogg of Ionia, IA, Larry (Diane) Kellogg of Ionia, IA, Sandra (Daniel) Bucknell of Sumner, IA and Leslie (Cynthia) of Ionia, IA; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and two brothers, Marvin (Thelma) Kellogg and Donald (Betty) Kellogg, both of Charles City.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wilma Kellogg on November 8, 1997; one sister, Darlene; two brothers, Earl and Lyle.
